Joshua Redman Kicks Off European Tour

Joshua Redman embarks on a European tour starting at BLG-Forum Überseestadt in Bremen, Germany, this Saturday, September 12, for Musikfest Bremen. He joins the Metropole Orkest (pictured rehearsing) on stage alongside Ibrahim Maalouf and Lalah Hathaway. Redman then tackles the challenging piano-less trio format together with Ole Morten Vågan on bass and multi-instrumentalist Jorge Rossy on drums September 13–19 in Spain, Hungary, the Netherlands, and Norway.

In November, Redman returns to Europe to perform with the collaborative band James Farm. From Zurich to Eindhoven (November 2–7), drummer Gregory Hutchinson will fill out the band featuring Redman on saxophone, Aaron Parks on keyboards, and Matt Penman on bass. Beginning in Heidelberg on November 9, Eric Harland will take over on drums for the remainder of the tour. James Farm made its recording debut with the Nonesuch release of its self-titled album in 2011, followed in 2014 by City Folk, which the Financial Times describes as "ten beautifully crafted miniatures that rock with rhythm."

Before and after the James Farm tour, Redman returns across the Atlantic to join The Bad Plus to pick up their North American tour in October and again in December. The tour features music from The Bad Plus Joshua Redman's recently released self-titled debut album, which the New York Times calls "a knockout," and NPR describes as "a roaring and beautiful summit meeting."
