Joshua Redman, a Berkeley native, performs close to home on Saturday when he and his Quartet, featuring pianist Aaron Goldberg, bassist Reginald Veal and drummer Gregory Hutchinson, give a concert at Berkeley's Zellerbach Hall, featuring music from his latest album, Compass.
Local TV station KTVU previews the concert with a look back at Redman's links to the area and his becoming "one of the leading jazz voices of his generation," says KTVU. "His latest effort Compass delves further into his piano-less trio concept but expanded the sound with an experimental double-trio approach that recalls some of Ornette Coleman's best work."
