Joshua Redman performed songs from his new album, Walking Shadows, at New York's Town Hall on Tuesday with the album's core ensemble—Brad Mehldau, Larry Grenadier, Brian Blade—and the chamber orchestra The Knights. The New York Times' Nate Chinen says the event "was, objectively speaking, a special night," exclaiming: "Mr. Redman has always been a fluid technician, but the inner glow in his tone throughout the night, along with the grace and clarity of his ideas, suggested new levels of prowess."

Joshua Redman will be joined by longtime collaborators and close friends Brad Mehldau on piano, Larry Grenadier on bass, and Brian Blade on drums for a performance of music from his new album, Walking Shadows, at The Town Hall in New York City this Tuesday, June 4. The artists, all of whom perform on the album, which Mehldau produced, will share the stage for the 2013 Blue Note Jazz Festival with the New York-based orchestra The Knights. The New York Times music critic Nate Chinen recognizes the concert as "a rare thing" and "an early highlight" of the festival.

Joshua Redman’s May 7, 2013, release, Walking Shadows (Nonesuch), is a collection of vintage and contemporary ballads and Redman’s first recording to include an orchestral ensemble. Redman’s June 4 performance at the historic Town Hall in New York City, part of the 2013 Blue Note Jazz Festival, will include the same quartet featured on Walking Shadows—longtime collaborators and close friends Brad Mehldau on piano, Larry Grenadier on bass, and Brian Blade on drums. The New York based orchestra The Knights will help bring the music of Walking Shadows to life.
